Dear Elementary School Parents,

We are pleased to share that the District will again offer our renowned Summer Learning Institute (SLI). This highly effective, 4-week program provides our eligible students with fun, tailored learning experiences designed to build skills and confidence in reading and mathematics. A team of excellent Ann Arbor teachers, along with the University of Michigan Master’s program interns, is looking forward to working with over 300 students this year!

The program serves students entering 1st and 3rd grades in the fall and lessons are engineered for full engagement, focusing on developmentally appropriate activities targeting explicit skills and incorporating music and movement. Our SLI teachers are some of the best teachers in our district and we keep class sizes low (1:12-15) for maximum learning impact.

Eligibility is determined by student mastery of the end-of-year learning outcomes as well as the NWEA MAPS assessment and teacher recommendations. Once enrolled students receive focused literacy and mathematics instruction with proven curricula.
