Library Media Centers
The library media department provides a fully integrated information literacy and technology program that combines traditional services with the instruction and use of new digital resources. The library media department supports the district’s achievement goals through the media specialists' roles as information specialists, teachers and instructional consultants, ensuring that the wide range of resources, technologies, and services needed to meet students’ learning and information needs are readily available.

- Electronic Resources for Ann Arbor Public School Students
- Students have access to a full range of information resources, in both traditional and electronic format.
- The collection includes materials chosen to represent diversity of experiences, opinions, and social and cultural perspectives.
Opportunities are provided to acquire information literacy skills, and take part in interdisciplinary learning activities that support the curriculum. Students are encouraged to realize their potential as informed citizens who think critically and solve problems, to observe rights and responsibilities relating to the generation and flow of information and ideas, and to appreciate the value of literature in an educated society.
Based on the Michigan Educational Technology Standards, the curriculum stresses:
- Creativity and Innovation - Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes.
- Communication and Collaboration - Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.
- Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, and Decision Making - Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.
- Digital Citizenship - Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior.
- Technology Operations and Concepts - Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.
Our students live in an ever-changing world, connected by technology, and interconnected global economic issues. Our efforts will allow us to support our individual building’s educational plans, and, through diversity of content and approach, to contribute to the high achievement of all of our students.
