Green Schools and LEED/Green Certification

Fourteen AAPS Schools Awarded Green School Certification

Fourteen of our schools have received Green School Certification from the State of Michigan for the 2009/10 school year. The awards ceremony was held Tuesday, April 20, 2010. The buildings received an outdoor flag to fly at their buildings with official certificates arriving shortly thereafter.

The buildings were required to complete 10 of the 20 points to receive the Green School Certification. Those completing 15 of the 20 points receive Emerald status and those completing all 20 points receive Evergreen status.

The buildings receiving Green Certification are:
Allen Elementary – 3rd consecutive year being certified, awarded Emerald status
Bach Elementary – 3rd consecutive year being certified, awarded Emerald status
Bryant Elementary
Eberwhite Elementary – 2nd consecutive year being certified, awarded Evergreen status
Forsythe Middle
King Elementary - 2nd consecutive year being certified, awarded Emerald status
Lawton Elementary - 2nd consecutive year being certified, awarded Emerald status
Logan Elementary - awarded Emerald status
Mitchell Elementary – 3rd consecutive year being certified
Northside Elementary
Pattengill Elementary – 2nd consecutive year being certified
Slauson Middle - awarded Emerald status
Thurston Elementary
Wines Elementary

The staff, students and parents that worked so diligently on this deserve to be commended. They have helped in reducing waste, increased recycling, spread awareness and made a firm commitment to our greening our school environments.

Skyline High School Earns Silver LEED Certification
