This Week’s Good News!

  • This is a very special time of year.  Over the next few days we will celebrate commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2011.  Community High School will hold its graduation Tuesday, May 31; Huron’s is Wednesday, June 1; Pioneer’s is Thursday, June 2; and Stone’s is Monday, June 6.
    Congratulations to the Class of 2011 and to all the staff members who helped them along their way and brought them to this level.  Good job everyone!
  • Many thanks to the downtown Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor for awarding 29 $1,000 scholarships to Ann Arbor Public Schools students to be used for higher education.
    The Hunter/Clague Scholarships.  The students were selected based on their character, leadership, service to the community, and academic performance.

  • The downtown Rotary Club awarded scholarships to Stone High School students who participate in the STRIVE Program.  Each student is assigned a mentor from the Rotary who assists them in setting goals and working to achieve them.

  • The students in Patty Carden & Greta Barfield's CI class participated in the local Special Olympic track meet at Saline High School on May 17 and received the following awards:

  • This past weekend 9 girls from Huron High School rowed in The Scholastic Rowing Athletic Association's National Competition held in Camden, New Jersey and earned a Bronze medal! The girls were Elena Marenghi, Ty Wellik, Corey Wellik, Sarah Chen, Katie Paige, Audrey Snow, Anna Scheldenbrand, Bernadette Stetz and Coxswain: Hannah McCabe. It is only the second medal in this event that any rowing team from Huron has won!
  • Scarlett teacher Chris Cerniglia is also in the AAATAAA faculty show downtown.  His name was left off the list in the last edition.
