This Week In the Ann Arbor Public Schools

September 27, 2010

This Week’s Good News!

  • This past weekend, 16 students from Clague Middle School exemplified the spirit of Clague's motto: “In Service to the Community.”  These students took part in a play-a-thon to raise funds to rebuild a music school for youth in Port a Prince, Haiti. The New Victorian School is the brainchild of Joseph Ramon, a native of Haiti, and a concert violinist. Along with many personal losses, his school was destroyed in the massive earthquake that struck Haiti last year. Robert Taylor, Alex Teixeira, Maria Bonvicini, Shwetha Rajaram, Alissa Ardnt, Chihiro Kakishima, Sarah Dixon, Celina Jeason, Emelia Schauvinhold, Suzanne Sheng, Sean Merlino, Tommy Lau, Pen Pen Yang, Laura Zheng and Lois Zuger played at the Kerrytown Concert house on Sunday afternoon. Several other individual students also collected pledges and all together raised over $400 to help rebuild the New Victorian School. We are all grateful for their contributions!
  • Thank you to the Engelbert family whose children, Ariel, Zoey and Eli, kicked off their new cable television show by putting on a show at the Michigan Theater on September 26,with the proceeds going to the Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation to benefit Arts in Education.
