Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad is a wonderful district wide event for students in second through fifth grade. After training for several months, the students compete in various events. This year the Olympiad is on June 5th at Skyline High School. Our school can sponsor up to eighty participants. Practice times will be set after coaches are secured for the events and children interested in participating will be notified of practice times.
Our team is only as strong as our coaches. Please strongly consider becoming a coach or a coach's assistant. There will be a coach's training session on Jan. 20th and ongoing support from the head coach throughout the process.
Now is the time to sign your child up to participate. Please go to our school's sign-up location on-line and become part of the Science Olympiad 2010! Adults interested in coaching please use the same link.

Enrichment Coordinator Program
Background
Enrichment has been identified as one of five key areas of focus for strengthening the Bryant-Pattengill school community. In response to recommendations by the Enrichment workgroup, a pilot enrichment program is being launched at Bryant-Pattengill. After evaluating the pilot program in June, we hope to enhance and expand the program to all grade levels for the 2009-2010 school year.
Proposed Program
- A project based program with learning opportunities for students who are at or above grade level, as identified by the Bryant/Pattengill teachers. Students will participate in interdisciplinary, long range projects facilitated by the Enrichment Coordinator.
- The program will also identify community enrichment opportunities to benefit all Bryant-Pattengill students.
- The Enrichment Coordinator will work in our schools 2 days a week, one day at Bryant and one day at Pattengill, beginning April 1.
- The program will be piloted with 2nd and 5th grade classes, with approximately 20-25 students per grade.
Benefits
- This program will provide new opportunities for kids at or above grade level who can participate in autonomous learning opportunities.
- Project based learning is a rigorous, relevant and engaging instructional model that supports students in developing problem solving, communication and self-management skills.
- Projects can be integrated with classroom curriculum, thematic instruction and community issues.
