Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Weiler is a native of Flint, Michigan. After graduating from the University of Michigan - Flint, he investigated police brutality cases for the City of Flint, Michigan. Returning to his chosen profession, he supervised a summer enrichment/activities camp at a Flint elementary school for two summers.
Additionally, for five summers he co-chaperoned groups of middle school students during overseas trips; traveling to Scandinavia, Australia, South Africa, and China.
For the past 25 years, Mr. Weiler has held various teaching positions for the Ann Arbor Public Schools; including 6 years as an elementary teacher, 14 years as a middle school teacher, 5 years as the Assistant Principal at Tappan Middle School, and now - Principal at Slauson Middle School. During his middle school experience, he co-chaired the middle school restructuring committee and was instrumental in the adoption of the current middle school math curriculum; Connected Math. He has also served as a Co-Curricular Director and coached baseball and soccer. Additionally, he was a member of the Ann Arbor School’s initial delegation traveling to Singapore to explore STEAM education.
Mr. Weiler holds an Educational Administration certificate from
Eastern Michigan University, a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Michigan - Flint.
Finally, and more importantly, Mr. Weiler is the proud father of three sons.
