The Rapid Assessment for Adolescent Preventive Services © RAAPS is a time efficient screening tool that identifies multiple behaviors in adolescents that put them at increased risk for injury or premature death including risk behaviors in diet, exercise, violence/safety, substance use, unintentional injury, depression/suicide, and sexuality.
RAAPS is a 21 question risk survey for adolescents aged 10-19.
The VISION for the development of RAAPS was for all professionals providing services to adolescents to screen and provide counseling for risk behaviors contributing to the leading causes of adolescent morbidity and mortality.
The RAAPS makes it easier for professionals to address and document the most common adolescent health risk behaviors in a single visit. Trigger survey questions, combined with clinical interviews, increase the accuracy of risk identification and the documentation of the screening and counseling provided to adolescents.
The RAAPS can be completed by adolescents in an average of 5 to 7 minutes on a paper version or on a computer with access to the internet and the web based RAAPS. Completed surveys on the web based RAAPS can be printed by the clinic staff for use when counseling the adolescent during their appointment and documentation afterwards. Documentation by the provider/counselor can be completed and saved into the web based RAAPS system as well.
