Mrs. Koeppe
My name is Jill Koeppe, and I am incredibly excited to be your child’s teacher this year. This fall will be my 13th year with The Ann Arbor Public Schools, and my 10th year as an elementary classroom teacher. I have taught Second and Third Grade at Carpenter Elementary, and I have over 18 years of varied experience in the field of education, working with students in Pre-K through Middle School, Special Education, Title I, and with English Language Learners. Before entering the educational profession, I worked in Human Services, Section 8 Housing, and I was a 911 Dispatcher. I also volunteered at the University of Michigan as an English Language Conversation Partner with adult learners.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Siena Heights University in Language Arts, along with my Elementary Certification and my Early Childhood endorsement. I am currently working towards earning my Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Western Michigan University.
In my free time, I love to go hiking and boating with my husband Scott and my two teenagers: Jiliang and T.J. (both were former Carpenter Cougars). I also love to garden, read, cook and travel. You can often find me walking my dogs, Oscar and Otis; or venturing out to my local farmers market.
Learning about your family is very important to me. You are your child’s first teacher, and you know your child best. I am here to support you on your child’s educational journey. I look forward to partnering with you to make your child’s Second Grade experience the BEST year ever.
I am committed to empowering academic excellence and teaching with integrity, innovation, collaboration and creativity. I love to nurture positive learning experiences and to help my students grow and surpass their learning potential. Teaching discovery and living science, building a love of literacy, providing culturally diverse books, and providing hands-on mathematics is a passion of mine. I also love to create a dynamic, joyful and equitable learning environment, and encourage problem-solving and cooperative learning in the classroom. I look forward to creating a year full of new adventures, new friendships in the classroom, and positive learning experiences for ALL of my students.
Pawsitively,
Mrs. Koeppe
