Ms. Maciag
The education of my son inspired me to become a teacher. I went back to school at 28 to pursue my degree. I majored in special education with a focus on students with emotional impairments. I was hired by Ann Arbor School District right after my graduation in 2008. I began teaching in a self-contained classroom for fourth and fifth grade students with emotional impairments at Northside Elementary School. I transferred to Carpenter Elementary to teach first grade in 2010. This year will be my eighth year in Kindergarten and I am beyond excited to continue this wonderful adventure in education!
I have continued my education to improve my practice. I received my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction in the summer of 2010. Additionally, I taught at Ann Arbor's Summer Learning Institute for many summers. I taught math and literacy for rising first graders. We've had so much fun! I love teaching the little ones!
I no longer live with my 25-year old son, Andrew. He moved out for the first time a few years ago. I am now, officially, an empty nester! He is currently a student at Washtenaw Community College and works as an ABA Technician helping children with autism. I miss him so much, but I will still talk about him a lot! We also often travel to visit our family in Buffalo, NY (Go Bills!)
