    Fourth Grade

     Mrs. Cheladyn

    Dear Parents,

Hello, my name is Kelly Cheladyn and I will be your child’s fourth grade teacher.  I would like to share with you some things about me, and hopefully you and your child will know me better.

I have been teaching for over 20 years.  I’ve taught kindergarten in Detroit, 2nd grade in Dearborn Heights District #7 and 3rd as well as 4th grade at Pattengill elementary.  I have my Masters in Educational Psychology and I find that I use much of what I learned in my classroom.  I love to learn and view myself as a lifelong learner.  This is one of the many qualities I hope to instill in my students.

When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my husband Todd, our daughter Kierstyn and our sons Brian and Brennan.  Brennan is in 11th grade at Brighton High School.  He loves playing soccer especially on the BHS Varsity team as well as his Wolves travel team.  He’s a recent cancer-survivor and finished treatment last year. He’s very excited to get back to school and to see his friends.  Brian just finished his senior year of high school, Class of 2020, and will be attending Michigan State in the fall.  He’s hoping to pursue Engineering and explore the MSU Men’s Club Soccer team.  Kierstyn will be a senior at MSU.  Her focus of study is Advertising and Marketing.  She’s looking forward to being done with school and securing a job in her field.…. our children do grow up way to fast!  My husband Todd is a Health Care Operations Senior Director for R1.  His hobbies include golf, deep see fishing, watching U of M football/ basketball games (Yes, we’re a house divided) and vacationing with our family.

Other things that I enjoy doing are: watching my boys play sports, boating, drawing, riding bikes, traveling, reading, publishing books, creating inventions, meeting new people and shootin’ hoop (I was on Ferris State University women’s basketball team).  At only 5’5”, I was the shortest one on the team but the fastest!

Now will you do something for me that will help me get to know your child better?

Here’s your assignment:  Write me a note about someone very special to you… your child!  The length is your choice and is due by the end of September.  It will be great to get a note telling me about your child and why your child is so special.

I am looking forward to meeting and working with you.

    Most Sincerely,
    Kelly A. Cheladyn
