Degrees and Certifications:
I am Ms. Yeh, from Taipei, Taiwan. I had 3 years experience of teaching Chinese to heritage college students in Taiwan and six years of teaching in the k-12 level in the Detroit area. It will be my fourth year in AAPS family. I received my Master’s degree of teaching Chinese as a second language from National Taiwan Normal University and my bachelor degree in elementary education. Being an educator of life long learning is always my calling. I believe that children can learn everything while they are inspired and encouraged.
Our district Chinese curriculum is based on the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements published by the collaboration between the National Council of State Supervisors for Languages (NCSSFL) and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). The statements are organized according to the Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication as described in the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages. Project based learning(PBL) is the main approach in my classroom. Students will be not only learning Chinese language but also using it in our classroom activities. Learning a foreign language is like opening a new world. I am glad to take the students to go on our Chinese journey.
