Degrees and Certifications:
I am a graduate of Michigan State University where I earned my degree in Elementary Education with minors in Anthropology and Environmental Science. I taught in Southfield Public School for three years, prior to moving to China to pursue my master's degree in International Studies through Concordia University. While in China, I taught science and elementary grades at International Schools in Shanghai for seven years. Last year, I taught a K/1 split class at the U.S. Embasssy School of Nouakchott in Mauritania. I have always had a passion for working with children, learning about the world and studying other cultures. It is great to be back in Michigan where my teaching career started.
I am excited to be working at Mitchell Elementary School in Ann Arbor! As a teacher, my goal is to make the classroom a comfortable environment where the students, both individually and collectively, can be confident risk takers and feel that they are actively involved in their own learning process. I love how children have a natural curiosity about the world around them; I strive to inspire them to maintain this curiosity, and passion to seek answers, into adulthood.
When I am not teaching I love to spend my spare time traveling, playing sports, running, reading, and doing anything outdoors.
