Hello to the Wines Community! My name is Heather Beck, and I am the Resource Program/Teacher Consultant here at Wines.

I grew up in northern Michigan in the small coastal town of Harbor Springs. I attended Western Michigan University for my undergraduate degree and began my Special Education teaching career at the middle school level in 2001. I later obtained my Master’s in Special Education from Saginaw Valley State University.

I joined the AAPS team in 2007 as an elementary resource program teacher. In 2012, my family and I relocated first out of state and later abroad for three years near São Paulo, Brazil. These experiences, working with students with learning differences and the time spent away from the classroom immersing into a foreign culture and assisting my own children as they navigated school in a foreign country/language, have been invaluable in evolving my teaching practice to reach all learners. 

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling with my husband and our three kids, cycling on our area roads and trails, and coaching for a local youth mountain bike team.
