Degrees and Certifications:
After teaching kindergarten in Ann Arbor for 25 years, Mrs. Szalay has spent 24 of those years at Lawton Elementary. During her first year of teaching, she taught at Carpenter Elementary School. She received both her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Michigan University.
“I was born and raised in Ann Arbor. I attended Allen School, Tappan Junior High and graduated from Ann Arbor Huron High School. “I feel very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach in the community I grew up in. I live in Saline with my husband Kurt who I have known since kindergarten, my son Kyle, 19 is a Sophmore at Eastern Michigan University and my daughter Kari, 14 is a freshman at Saline High School.When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, cooking and reading a good book”.
