Degrees and Certifications:
A warm hello to all of you, and welcome to Ms. Hong’s Super Star Kindergarteners page! I’m sure that you and your child are anxiously waiting to start kindergarten and I am so excited to learn all about them! I will have the privilege of teaching and learning from your child this school year. I am looking forward to a year of growth and learning in a caring and safe environment. I have many goals for our class and I hope to share my enthuasiam of teaching with you as we get to know each other throughout the school year.
Here is a little bit about me. My passions in life are teaching, especially reading, and working with young children. I have my Bachelors degree from MSU (GO GREEN!) in Family Community Services with an emphasis on young children. After MSU, I completed my teaching certification from EMU. In the spring of 2013, I happily completed my Master’s degree from U of M-Flint (GO BLUE!) in literacy for all grades K-12th.
Last year I joined the King family and taught first grade, and I am excited to be teaching kindergarten again! Before joining the team at King, I taught a multi-age class of Kindergarteners and 1st graders and then stayed with those students and taught 1stand 2nd graders at a local charter school for the last 2 years here in Ann Arbor. Before teaching in Ann Arbor, I taught in Flint for 3 years as a prekindergarten teacher.
When I am not teaching, you will probably see me running. I run everywhere in Ann Arbor and the surrounding areas. Last year my first graders even ran with me at the Super Star Race. I am originally from Holland, Michigan and I love to spend time outside with a good read. If I am not outside running or reading, I also love to bake sweets. My family lives in Saline, and my daughter Serafina is 18 months and she is a little bundle of energy; my husband and I love to spend our time together walking outside at local parks or downtown Ann Arbor with her.
Looking forward to a Super Star Year, full of learning, laughter, friendships and more…
