About the Flag Football League Program

NFL FLAG is the premier youth flag football program for all. NFL FLAG provides an exciting way to enjoy America's favorite sport and advance young people's physical fitness in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship.

Launched in 1996, NFL FLAG inspires a fun playing experience and allows players to play multiple positions. Players also learn skills and football values like responsibility and accountability that help them succeed on and off the field.

This flag football program is designed for everyone currently in Young 5's through 8th grade. The emphasis of this program is on participation and enjoyment. EVERYONE GETS TO PLAY! There are no "cuts" or "try-outs". Participants are assigned to teams based on their grade and public school attendance area. (Private and out-of-district school teams may be formed provided they meet the grade requirements, minimum number of players and registration deadline.) Rosters are typically limited to 12 players per team.

The games begin the weekend of April 15 and run no later than Sunday, June 4th. Most games are scheduled on Sundays, between 8AM and 8PM at area parks or schools. A limited number of games may be played on Saturday afternoons. You will receive a schedule of games and locations from your head coach.

Each team will practice one evening during the week, between 5:00PM and 7:00PM. Usually practices are held at one of the Ann Arbor district’s elementary schools or a neighborhood park. Practice locations are selected by the Head Coach.

Practices begin the week of April 10. No team, private or public, is to practice more than one hour per week.

Players will receive an NFL Flag Football jersey and flags. Equipment will be provided for the coach, such as balls, cones etc... Players MUST have a mouthguard and wear pants with NO POCKETS.

For additional information regarding the flag football season timeline, equipment specifications, refund policy and how to volunteer to be Rec & Ed youth flag football coach, contact Willie at pickvetw@a2schools.org.
