Mr. Mark Valchine
Prior to joining the education family at A2 Schools Mr. Valchine (Coach) began his teaching career in 2004 teaching Building Trades at the Livonia Career Center. After a short tenure with Livonia Schools he was hired by Wayne Westland Schools to teach Construction Technology II at the William D. Ford Career and Technical Center. During his thirteen-year tenure at William D Ford coach Valchine built/remodeled over 16 homes. In 2011 the Michigan Department of Education honored (Coach Valchine) & the William D Ford Construction Program with the Best in Practice Award at the CTE Showcase. As lead construction instructor he was instrumental with the inclusion of Algebra and English in Construction Technology, he forged partnerships with the local building department, City of Westland, and various community groups. These partnerships evolved into community service learning opportunities, which taught students much, more, than construction skills alone.
Over the years Mr. Valchine has been involved in many different professional organizations including; Skills USA, Michigan Industrial Technical Education Society (M.I.T.E.S), Michigan Construction Teachers Association (MCTA), and the Nation Association Of Home Builders. He has prepared his students for Local, Regional, State, and National Competitions and is honored by the success his students achieved at all levels.
