Mrs. Alison Corey
Welcome to Young Fives. I am thrilled to be Abbot’s full day Young Fives teacher! Young Fives is an alternative Kindergarten program that offers children the time they need to develop socially, emotionally and academically before entering the formal Kindergarten classroom. Our days and weeks are filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.
I am married to my wonderful husband, James. We have two boys, Lucas, who is 4, and Emery, who is one year old. When I’m at home, I spend most of my time with my boys. We enjoy going on many adventures including trips to the zoo, farm, Greenfield Village, and numerous visits to the library. When I have a few moments to myself I enjoy reading, running, yoga, and baking.
I have lived in Ann Arbor most of my life. I was once a student here at Abbot! I graduated from Pioneer High School, and went on to get my B.A. in English from Denison University. I moved to Los Angeles following graduation. I spent six years in Los Angeles where I began my teaching experience at a private school in a fourth grade classroom. I then decided to get my Masters in Education from California Lutheran University. While getting my masters degree I taught Kindergarten. My love for Ann Arbor brought me back home, where I have been teaching at Abbot for the last seven years. This is my fourth year teaching Young Fives, and I absolutely LOVE it! It is my mission to instill a life long love for learning in my students.
