Mr. Nicholas Fawaz
Nicholas Fawaz received his teaching certification in teaching Arabic, English, and ESL, and his Master’s degree in special education “Cognitive Impairment” from Wayne State University, and he is a current doctoral student in the field of curriculum and instruction in Wayne state University. He has taught Arabic and English as a Second Language for high school level at Harrison High School, and online instructor at John Hopkins University. Currently he is teaching at Macomb Community College and Marygrove College. A strong advocate of hands-on activities, and inquiry based learning. He involves his students in variety of project based learning activities which help students to practice the Arabic language outside the classroom, and technology-infused activities that provide students with more opportunities to use their Arabic language to help others. His professional interests focus on communicative approaches to language teaching, thematic planning, and cooperative learning. Nicholas Fawaz worked as an instructional coach for Startalk program in the past 6 years in Detroit and Virginia, and Penn State University. In addition, he served as council’s teacher assistant for Michigan Arabic Teachers’ Council for 4 years.
