Mrs. Sarah Palermo
Mrs. Palermo is joining the Huron Staff after teaching at Fenton High School for 13 years. She has taught all levels of mathematics, ranging from Algebra 1 to the second year of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program course. Mrs. Palermo is passionate about curriculum development, as well as making mathematics relevant and exciting for all students.
She grew up in the Lansing area, then attended Western Michigan University for her undergraduate education. She graduated from WMU in 2004, certified to teach both Math and Spanish at a secondary level. During her first few years of teaching in Fenton, Mrs. Palermo worked on her Master's degree in Education through Central Michigan University. She finished that degree in 2007, and has since taken several additional Master's courses, mostly focusing on curriculum development, integrating technology into education, and understanding how the brain processes mathematics.
Mrs. Palermo has attended six IB Mathematics conferences across the nation and in Canada, focusing on the Middle Years Program and Standard Level Math. She is looking forward to seeing the IB program in action at Huron High School.
In her spare time, she enjoys running, attending sporting events, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two little girls.
