Ms. Kayla Clement
Hello A2 STEAM families!
My name is Kayla Clement and I am eager to partner with you as the English Langauge Learner (ELL/ESL) Teacher.
In my role at STEAM, I support students who speak different languages at home and/or who consider English as a second language. I use push-in and pull-out model support students in the areas of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. My work focuses on academic vocabulary development, focusing on language through content based-instruction and identifying areas of development for students in regards to language.
I have four years of experiences with teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). I have taught English as a Second Language classes in different capacities. I taught English as a Foreign Language in a high school classroom in Indonesia for two years. Then for 1 year, I was a bilingual education for elementary aged students from Central and South America in Chicago. And this is my second year in Ann Arbor as an ELL Teacher. I have my Elementary Teaching Certificate and Master of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan. I did my student teaching internship Mitchell Elementary in Ann Arbor while I was in the ELMAC program. I have worked with English Language Learners in many different settings and look forward to working with students at STEAM!
In my free time, I enjoy running, water sports, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I live in Ann Arbor and enjoy trying out new restaurants and running by the river.
Please contact me if you have any questions are about ESL/ELL support at STEAM.
