McKinney-Vento (Homeless) Student Services

  • Students and families who lack fixed, regular, or adequate housing due to eviction, family conflict, natural disaster, or other reasons related to economic hardship are eligible for services provided by The Ann Arbor Public Schools as required by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. District services address the specific challenges that students experiencing residential transitions may face in enrolling, attending, and participating fully in school. The goal is to promote school stability and success for all students.
  • Students are eligible for educational services that remove barriers and support achievement. These include:
    • Immediate or continued enrollment in school
    • Transportation assistance (students and families)
    • Free school meals, supplies, and resources
    • Academic support/ recovery
    • Fee waivers (for some AAPS programs)
    • Referrals to educational and community services
