Mrs. Melita Alston
Melita Alston has been an educator for the past sixteen years. She received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI and began her teaching career as a fourth grade teacher with Chicago Public Schools. After relocating back to Michigan, she worked in Detroit Public Schools, as an Elementary and Middle School Teacher. While teaching, she received a Master’s of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Melita became an administrator while working at a K-8 charter school in Detroit, Michigan. She was a Math Instructional Facilitator, an Assistant Principal for two years and served as the Principal for five years. Currently, she works with Ann Arbor Public Schools as the proud Bryant/Pattengill Elementary School Senior Principal. Her favorite quote is "The strength of the team is each individual member, the strength of each member is the team" from Phil Jackson. She is passionate about educating the whole child and preparing our students for our commUNITY and world. In her spare time, she competitively races in 5Ks, 8Ks, and half-marathons, as well as enjoys traveling with her husband and two sons.
