9th Grade State Testing Schedule/Info
March 16th, 2018
Dear 9th Grade Families,
Huron High School will be closed for Spring Break from Monday, March 26th through Friday, March 30th, 2018. School will resume on April 2nd.
The second week following Spring Break will be an atypical week here at Huron due to a series of assessment tests.
On Tuesday, April 10th, your 9th grade student will be taking the PSAT 8/9 exam.
The purpose of this exam is to establish a baseline measurement of college and career readiness. The results of this exam will help your student and their teachers identify what areas must be focused on to prepare for both the SAT exam, and for their future beyond high school. The SAT exam is an admission test accepted by U.S. colleges, and the College Board has programs and resources available to encourage students to take advantage of higher education.
Students do not need to study or otherwise prepare for the PSAT exam. You can assist your student by ensuring that he/she receives a proper amount of sleep the night before testing. Additionally, please ensure that your student arrives at school on time for the PSAT exam on Tuesday, April 10th.
Students are allowed to use a calculator for part of the Math Test. It is highly recommended for students to bring their own calculator, although it is not required. The math section can be completed without a calculator. The school will have basic "four-function" calculators (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) available for use. Please click on this LINK to review the SAT Calculator Policy.
If you have any questions about the PSAT exam, please contact your student’s Guidance Counselor.
School buses will provide transportation at their regularly scheduled times all week, despite the late start time on Wednesday.
