Ms. Emily Mashal
Emily Mashal comes to Huron with a wealth of experience. While still an undergrad at the University of Michigan, she was chosen to be part of the inaugural cohort of Chicago Summer Teaching Fellows where she taught Mathematics at Crane Technical High School. After graduation, she began taught Spanish at Lyons Township High School in LaGrange Illinois for four years. She then moved from Chicago to New York and spent 7 years in the NYC metro area teaching Spanish, Health and Mathematics at the Harlem Children’s Zone and in the NYC Department of Education. Ms. Mashal has worked as a school counselor at the Special Music School in New York City and was an Upper School Counselor and the Director of College Counseling at Leman Manhattan Preparatory School. Most recently, Ms. Mashal worked at Harrison High School in Westchester, NY which also offers the IB Diploma Programme.
Ms. Mashal has earned two Master’s Degrees. She holds a Masters of Counseling Psychology degree as well as a Master’s in Education with a specialty in School Counseling from Columbia University in New York City. Ms. Mashal is not only an Ann Arbor native, but also a Huron graduate. She is excited come back to the high school that prepared her so well for higher education. Her passion is connecting with students and helping them discover their own path and future goals.
