Ms. Claire Federhofer
Claire Federhofer hails from a small town in South Africa just outside of Johannesburg. She relocated to the US in 2017 to join her partner who is a faculty member at the University of Michigan. Prior to completing her MA and certification at the University of Michigan, Claire taught in person and online for the African Leadership Academy. This is a school that offers a two-year university preparation program for students between 16 and 20 years old. It caters for students from all over Africa who demonstrate leadership potential and entrepreneurial ability. Claire taught the Cambridge International literature and language curricula, as well as a writing and rhetoric class. Before that, Ms. Federhofer taught theater, history and English in the South African public education system.
When she isn’t in the classroom, Ms. Federhofer loves to read, cook, travel, sing and dance. The kitchen is her favorite place to experiment with new dishes from all over the world. Whilst in the US, she has visited Missouri, New York, Washington DC, Orlando and Vermont, and has travelled extensively in South Africa. Ms. Federhofer's summers are spent enrolled in the Middlebury College Bread Loaf School of English where she is working towards her MA in literature.
After a year of rigorous study and student teaching, Ms. Federhofer is looking forward to being back in the classroom with students at Huron.
