My name is Janeen Eckel. I started teaching at Wines Elementary School back in the early 80’s. I attended Ann Arbor Public Schools knowing upon my graduation that teaching would become the love of my life. I attended Eastern Michigan University and earned a Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities. My early years at Wines were spent teaching hearing-impaired children K-5th grades. For the last 20 years, I have taught first and second graders. When I am not teaching, I spend my time on our farm in Chelsea, Michigan with our 2 miniature donkeys, 2 cats, 1 Australian Shepherd, 40 chickens, and our many friends and family who come to enjoy the fruits of our labor. When I am not busy teaching I direct a summer camp and staff it with local 4-H counselors.
