My career in early childhood has spanned over 30 years, when raising my own three children I ran an in-home daycare for 15 years and joined the Ann Arbor Public Schools in 2001.  I earned my Master’s in Education from EMU with an additional certification in Early Childhood Special Education. In my spare time I love to travel, spend time with my grandchildren and explore the world of nature.   I feel honored to be able to work with families and their children in the Early On Program, knowing that parents are their child’s first teacher and helping each child grow to their full potential.

Growing up as the oldest sibling in a family of 5 children (whose mom also had a home daycare), I have always wanted to become a teacher! I am a mom of 2 grown children (son and daughter) and have over 25 years experience working in the field of early childhood education. In addition to Early On, my experiences include teaching parent/toddler classes, preschool, kindergarten, and first grade. I have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education from Eastern Michigan University, and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University. My passion is working with young children and their families to help them reach their highest potential. I look forward to meeting you and your child.

My name is Kelly. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Early Childhood, Special Education and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have been a teacher at the Westerman Preschool & Family Center since 2005. During this time I have taught both in the classroom and with the Early On program. I love working with families and young children to support learning, connecting with others, and playing. My husband and I have two young daughters and three dogs. In my spare time I enjoy reading, camping, jogging, and working on jigsaw puzzles.

I have been an Early Childhood Special Education teacher since 2007.  I graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Special Education with a focus in Cognitive Impairments and a second degree in Child Development.  I have my Master’s in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Eastern Michigan University.  I have taught in an ECSE classroom for 4 years, worked at the University of Michigan’s Autism and Communication Disorders Center (UMACC) for 2 years on a research study for children ages 3-5 on the spectrum, and have currently worked in the Early On program since 2014.  My passion has always been teaching individuals with special needs and I absolutely love working with both infants/toddlers and their families!
