Caps and Gowns
All participants in the Commencement Exercises must wear a cap and gown. Caps and gowns are available through Jostens. Distribution of caps and gowns will take place in the AUX Gym on Thursday, June 4, 2020. All financial, books, etc. obligations must be cleared, EDP completed, minimum graduation requirements met and all 3 senior surveys completed to pick-up a cap and gown.
It is mandatory that all graduating seniors are required to attend the commencement rehearsal on Monday, June 8 at 10:00 am at EMU's Convocation Center. Rehearsal will conclude at approximately 12:00 pm.
With all the excitement and celebrations pertaining to graduation, we must be careful that student behavior does not disrupt Skyline's school climate for the remainder of its students. Inappropriate behavior and student pranks will not be tolerated. Students in violation could lose the privilege of participating in senior activities including walking at graduation, attending prom or the all-night party. Parents, please discuss this with your students.
Skyline High School's Commencement Ceremony will be held at EMU's Convocation Center on Monday, June 8 at 6:00 pm. Graduates should arrive at 5:30 pm and proceed to the auxiliary gym. The processional will begin promptly at 6:00 pm.
No tickets are required.
All guests should be seated no later than 5:45 pm before the processional begins. No parents or guests are permitted on the floor of EMU Convocation Center. All guests should remain seated until the final graduate has exited EMU Convocation Center at the end of the recessional. Families and guests may meet graduates outside of the Convocation Center after the ceremony.
EMU will be opened for guests with special needs at 5:00 pm. An area is designed for guests with hearing impairment. Please have guests notify ushers upon arrival if this service is desired.
Programs will be distributed to graduates on their seats and guests as they arrive at EMU Convocation Center.
Commencement is filled with excitement and tradition. It is a special time to share your achievements with your family, friends and Skyline staff. So that all in attandance may safely enjoy and fondly remember these commencement exercises, there will be no eating, drinking or smoking allowed. Toys and party favors of any kind - noisemakers, horns, beach balls, signs on poles, etc., will not be permitted. Please be respectful of each other. Skyline and EMU security personnel have been advised to remove such items.
Parents and guests will not be permitted on the floor at EMU Convocation Center to photograph graduates. Security personnel have been advised not to permit parents and guests to enter the floor areas during the Commencement Ceremonies. A professional photographer will photograph each graduate receiving his/her diploma. Information regarding the purchase of these photos will be mailed to graduates directly from the photographer.
Students who have met all graduation requirements and have no outstanding or uncleared obligations will receive their well-deserved diploma at commencement (immediately following the ceremony). Graduates who do not pick up their diploma at commencement may pick up their diploma, if obligations are clear, beginning Tuesday, June 9 in the Main office.
