AAPS COVID-19 Update
April 8thHello AAPS Students and Staff, Parents and Community,
Today’s update includes information on:
- AAPS Food Service Distribution
- Continuity of Learning Plan
- Hearing from You: Input and Feedback
AAPS Food Service
Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14th, is the next planned food distribution, with another distribution on Friday, April 17th. On Tuesday, meals will be provided for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you have food allergy needs or cannot make it to a pick-up location, please call 734-994-2265. Full details on the AAPS Food Service are available here.
In addition to the AAPS Food Service available for students, Food Gatherers information on supplemental food pantry and pick-up locations is here.
Food for Adults
As the need for food grows, many of our families have requested food for adults. Working with Food Gatherers, a local food rescue program, we have been able to provide shelf-stable food boxes to some AAPS families. We have distributed 60 boxes per week and are now working on a plan to have Food Gatherers bring the food boxes directly to food distribution locations.
Continuity of Learning Plan
Members of our district team, including our talented teacher and content leaders, developed and published our AAPS Continuity of Learning Plan last week. We have a new page with information including learning plans, resources, technology support, and emotional and mental health resources located here. This site includes specifics on the Continuity of Learning Plan for students at Elementary, Middle and High school levels.
Hearing from You: Input and Feedback
We are engaged in several opportunities to interact in order to better understand your perspective and receive input and feedback on our work to support our students, staff and families during this COVID-19 school closure.
We are asking that students, staff and parents share their thoughts about: What are your most pressing questions and needs, and what priorities do you think we should be considering at this time?
We have already received a strong response to our online survey using the ThoughtExchange tool and would like to hear from you. Please share your thoughts here - and rate the thoughts of others- through Thursday, April 16th.
We are also hosting an AAPS Virtual Town Hall Meeting. Due to parent feedback, we are now planning to hold this AAPS Town Hall for Parents on Thursday, April 16th, at 4 PM on Facebook Live. Video of the event will later be shared at https://www.a2schools.org/COVID-19 for individuals not available to participate or who may not be comfortable using Facebook.
Sincerely,
Jeanice K. Swift
