Hello King Families!

It is thrilling to be a member of the King Staff. I work as a medical paraprofessional along with supporting other students and staff as needed. Your children are truly appreciated and it is a pleasure to witness their growth and understanding of the world around them. The diversity represented at King Elementary brings a dimension to learning that is so special to our school.

While growing up, my family moved all over Michigan - from the very northern region to almost the the very southern. So, I am from Michigan, a state I love so very much! I settled in Ann Arbor 32 years ago and just recented moved to Chelsea. I have a degree in Cultural Anthropology focusing on Archeology with a minor in Social Science from Eastern Michigan University. The only thing missing in this career was working with kids!

As our children sometimes direct, I was led onto a different path than originally planned. After staying home with my children I returned to work with AAPS. My first assignment was as a Special Education TA at Huron High School, finishing as a Medical TA. My twelve years there prepared me for elementary-aged students and I feel at home at King

When your children aren’t teaching me the ways of their world, I mostly spend time with my family and friends. I have four grown children, two girls and two boys. Courtenay (36) is an independent director, producer, and writer in the film industry and lives in Brooklyn, NY. Telfer (32) lives in Ann Arbor working at the M-Den. Anders (23) is studying Business Finance and Visual Arts at EMU while also working for a construction company. Molly (20) is a junior at MSU, studying Criminal Psychology and tearing up the volleyball court as proud Spartan athlete. When I’m not busy keeping up with them I create, volunteer, travel, and spend as much time as possible at my cottage on Lake Superior near Michigan Tech University.

Aside from being a mother, working with your children completes the rewarding experience called my life. I cherish being a part of providing them a safe and enriching school experience at King Elementary working side by side with our AWESOME staff.
