Mrs. Courtney Vanderbilt
Hello! My name is Courtney Vanderbilt,
I am the Intervention Specialist here at Tappan Middle School. I was born and raised in Ann Arbor. I attended Bryant/Pattengill Elementary, TAPPAN MIDDLE SCHOOL...Go Trojans!! and graduated from Pioneer High School. I received my Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Michigan. My favorite educator/champion
of all time is Mr. Chuck Hatt, my first grade teacher who was intentional about connecting with me and my family, never gave up on me, and insisted that I be the best I could be. As a member of the Tappan commUNITY, I am committed to carrying on a legacy and responsibility of being a champion for all students, families and their communities.
As an Intervention Specialist, I support the behavioral, academic and social-emotional learning needs of general education students on my caseload. I implement and design a range of interventions and strategies that give students the skills and tools they need to achieve behavioral and academic success. Students are also provided with opportunities for mentorship to enhance positive youth development beyond the middle school years. In addition to serving as a student advocate, trusted and caring adult, my role also affords me the opportunity to function as a conduit between the school, families, and community resources. At the core of it all, relationships are the heart of the matter. They are imperative to the success of my role and I make it my mission to cultivate, value and sustain healthy relationships with every involved student, staff, family member and community partner. I wholeheartedly believe that together WE
achieve more.
