    Free COVID-19 Testing

The Ann Arbor Public Schools is offering free COVID-19 testing at Huron from 12:00 - 3:00 PM onSaturday, May 8, May 15, May 22 and June 5. We encourage all AAPS staff and families who remain unvaccinated to be tested prior to return to school or if you have already returned. More information and how to register here.

    COVID-19 Vaccine Information

Every vaccine we achieve in Ann Arbor contributes to a safer community for our students, many of whom cannot yet receive vaccination, and for all of us. The Washtenaw County Health Department has information about the COVID-19 vaccination, including how to make an appointment here and other locations that are offering the vaccine here.

    Summer 2021 Planning

We are preparing now for a full back-to-school in Fall 2021 as well as summer programs. We hosted an information meeting last night, including responding to questions from parents; if you missed it, you can watch it here.

Fall 2021 Planning, Registration and Community Information Meetings

Preparations for a strong Fall 2021 Back-to-School launch continue, including 5 days per week of in-school learning for students; spring enrollment and transition activities are in progress now across our campuses.

We will soon share more detailed information and request that existing students and parents pre-register and confirm enrollment in the AAPS for Fall 2021. Our quality AAPS educational programming, featuring our top-notch teachers and staff, and including strong academics, visual and performing arts, STEAM and Project Lead the Way, athletic and enrichment opportunities will continue during the 21-22 school year.

Students & families will continue to have the choice of a fully virtual learning program during the 21-22 school year; there is no hybrid instruction in AAPS programming for Fall 2021.

We will also hold virtual community meetings during May to share information about school year 21-22 and respond to questions students and families may have about programs and options for the 2021-22 school year. A community information meeting will be Thursday, May 13, at 6 PM and we look forward to sharing more information about an exciting back-to-school 2021-22.

All meetings will be recorded and shared on the A2Schools.org website.

AAPS Breaches of Racial Equity and Title IX Concerns Hotline

The AAPS encourages individuals who wish to share concerns or experiences, racist attitudes and practices related to the Pioneer High School Investigation, or other AAPS schools, to contact Bonnie Mayfield or Jill Wheaton at PioneerHighSchoolInvestigation@dykema.com. More information and the AAPS Breaches of Racial Equity and Title IX Concerns hotline here.

Hybrid In-Person School Breakfasts and Lunches

Families will need to order student lunches using the new AAPS Online Student Lunch Ordering system. For the rest of this school year, families will not be charged for breakfast or lunch but must register for the program in order for your student to receive a free lunch on their hybrid in-school learning day. Questions? Contact AAPS Food Service at 734-994-2265.

Registration is open for early childhood through 8th-grade summer camps. Half-day and full-day options are available starting June 14th. Scholarships are available, and camps are expected to fill quickly. More information, including camp descriptions and direct links to registration, may be found here.

    Recognizing the Class of 2021

This week we shared with our graduating class of 2021 and their families details about the commencement ceremonies for the class of 2021. We are also planning on ways to celebrate the graduates online and are asking graduating seniors to share 10-second videos answering one of the following questions: What will you remember most from being in the AAPS? What reflections do you have on your unusual senior year? Who was your most memorable teacher, and why? What message do you have for your classmates? Additionally, families can share a photo with the student’s name, school and a few words about future plans that we will post on the district’s social media accounts. Send videos and photos to communications@a2schools.org.
