Ms. Michaela Kass

"Hello! My name is Michaela Kass. I am a former Huron River Rat graduate and I am happy to be back as a math educator! I started teaching for AAPS in the summer of 2020 when everything was remote. I taught Algebra 1B and then got hired at Huron High School to teach Senior Advanced Math (SAM), Algebra II, and Personal Projects.

I got my Bachelor's in Mathematics for Secondary Education and a minor in Physical Education (K-12) at Eastern Michigan University and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I am currently half-way done with my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Leadership at EMU and plan on obtaining it by July of 2022! I enjoy staying active and participating in several sports. I played softball and basketball at Huron High School as a student. I continued to play softball on the EMU Women's Club Softball Team. I now enjoy playing basketball pick-up games, boxing, and running.

I grew up in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area my whole life and love the diversity and inclusiveness this community brings. I knew I wanted to be a math teacher when I was at Scarlett Middle School. I always enjoyed helping my peers with math problems and working together. Whenever I helped another classmate understand the concept I felt immediate joy for their success. I am a very driven self-determined individual who loves to celebrate others' successes, and plan to watch my students reach their full potential in all their endeavours. I could not have asked for a better school to be a part of..... GO RATS!"
