Mr. Hogan is a two-time graduate of Eastern Michigan University (GO EAGLES!), with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Mr. Hogan has had the pleasure of working with middle school-aged students for over 15 years, with the last five years teaching mathematics here at Tappan Middle School. 

From the very beginnings of his teaching career, Mr. Hogan gravitated toward a powerful quote from Rita Peirson, “Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.”  These words have pushed him to work tirelessly to create an environment where every student is seen, valued, and provided the resources and opportunities to realize their dreams.

Mr. Hogan looks forward to continuing to work towards the Ann Arbor Public School’s mission of creating an equitable and antiracist environment for all students alongside all of you! 

As a native of the west side of Ann Arbor, and a proud Ann Arbor Public Schools alum, Mr. Hogan has a deep love for this community!  You will often find him and his wonderful wife walking around town, drinking coffee, visiting bookstores, as well as attending sporting events and student plays. 

Steve Jobs said, “Great things in business are never done by one person, they’re done by a team of people.” Mr. Hogan is excited to link arms with the amazing team of people that make up this community and dive into the work of creating a space where great things are available for every student!
