March 21, 2024 - Athletics Update
Posted by Jonathan Cook on 3/21/2024Note from Men's Basketball Coach:
Hello Friends and Families,
Thank you to all the players, families, staff, and coaches who made this season a success. I couldn't be more proud of the growth and development of all three teams throughout the season. Our Freshman team went 14-1, and the JV team went 16-1. Both teams swept our city rivals. We're very proud of the way our young men represented our program on and off the court.
Our varsity team ended the season with a 22-5 record. We had an amazing postseason run, winning the District Championship, Regional Championship, and Quarterfinals to reach the Final Four. We couldn't be more proud of the hard work, commitment, character, and unity this group displayed throughout the season. Our players also received individual and team honors that we will announce at the banquet.

Posted by Tony Whiren on 3/20/2024Congrats to Huron Football program:
Huron's Coach Love and several of our players went out into the community on March 19th to interact with Carpenter Elementary students. It was an excellent experience for Huron players and our AAPS elementary students. Please take a moment to look at the attached pictures from that day. Nice job to everyone involved. It was a special day to embrace March Reading Awareness between our players and elementary students. -

Posted by Tony Whiren on 3/20/2024WINTER
Winter sports are over, and our last two standing sports (men's swim/dive and men's basketball) ended the Winter season with great runs. Swimming was posted a few "notes" back in AD updates.
Men's basketball lost in the State tournament in the Semifinals to OLSM, who went on to win the Division 1 title.
I congratulate ALL Winter Student-Athletes, coaches, and parents on an amazing season. Thank you to our teachers and staff for all their support in and out of the classroom. Each sport has memorable moments that students will remember for a long time. Go Rats!
Thank you,
Tony

Our men's basketball team has advanced to the semifinals! This is a momentous achievement for our school and our community, and we couldn't be more proud of our talented athletes. The semifinal game is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 15th, starting at 12:15 PM at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Michigan. We anticipate a high level of interest from both students and staff, and we're thrilled to support our team as they compete for victory. In light of this exciting event, we have some important information to share:
- Attendance and Support: We understand that many of you may want to attend the game to show your support for our athletes. While we encourage school spirit and community involvement, please remember to follow our regular attendance protocol if you plan to attend the game.
- Ticket Information: All tickets for the semifinal and final games are general admission and must be purchased exclusively online via Breslin Center Ticket Office. The ticket price is $12, plus a $3 processing fee, for a total of $15 per ticket.
- Student Section: We have reserved a special student section for Huron fans at the game (Details and seating maps). The first 200 students to arrive will receive an ORANGE wristband, allowing them access to the student section behind Huron's bench. Friday's student's section will be in Aisles 110, 111, and 113. Please enter through the "Gilbert Pavilion'' gate. Mr. Edmondson will be at Aisle 113 to give the first 200 students an ORANGE wristband. This will allow them to sit in student sections behind Huron's bench. Once the student section is filled, students can sit anywhere around the Huron fans/student sections.
- Streaming Options: For those unable to attend the game in person, the semifinal game will be streamed live on Live Stream MHSAA Sports | NFHS Network. A subscription fee of $11.99 is required for access. The final games will be broadcast live on Bally Sports Detroit.
- We are working on a plan for students who are interested in watching from school during the day through a streaming platform using an abbreviated schedule.
