    • Get free help with money management, reducing debt, improving credit and more! The Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) offers professional, one-on-one financial counseling as a free public service for Washtenaw County residents.
    • Financial Coaching: 
      United Way of Washtenaw is now partnering with TrustPlus to provide one-on-one support to help you reach your financial goals.  This service is confidential and offered at no cost. TrustPlus coaches can work with you on a range of financial topics, including: building credit, reducing debt and budgeting and building a safety net for emergencies. Learn more.

    Tax Help

    • Trouble Paying your Property Taxes? 
      Find out if you are eligible for local assistance.  View the Poverty Property Tax Brochure.
    • Low Income Taxpayer Clinic: The clinic provides low-income people with representation (by law students supervised by a tax attorney) to achieve a correct outcome in an IRS dispute, regardless of the taxpayer’s ability to pay for representation. They are not affiliated with the IRS. They are not tax preparers. For more information, see flyer.

    • No-Cost Tax Preparation: The Accounting Aid Society is offering no-cost tax preparation on Saturdays from Feb 3-March 23 on the Eastern Michigan University Campus. Appointments are preferred; walk-in services may be available but are not guaranteed. To schedule an appointment, visit accountingaidsociety.org or call 313-556-1920.     Legal Help

    • Washtenaw County Family Law Assistance Clinic
      The Family Law Assistance Clinic is held monthly at the Washtenaw County Court and is open to all low income residents of Washtenaw County with a family law problem (or low income non-residents with a family law case in Washtenaw).  The Clinic is first come first served, and attendees will have a free consultation with a family law attorney.
