Statement of Inclusion for Rec & Ed Youth Sports
Rec & Ed is committed to providing safe and inclusive recreational sports opportunities to all young people, regardless of race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, national origin, ability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Youth may register using a variety of gender terms, including “non-binary,” and are welcome to select whichever sports and leagues they prefer.

We welcome young people who identify as non-binary or gender-fluid to play on Rec & Ed teams! Parents, feel free to contact Seth Dodson (dodsons@a2schools.org) to ensure we have correct pronouns for your child and to discuss any other ways we can provide children with a welcoming environment.

About the Flag Football League Program

NFL FLAG is the premier youth flag football program for all. NFL FLAG provides an exciting way to enjoy America's favorite sport and advance youth physical fitness in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship.

Launched in 1996, NFL FLAG inspires a fun playing experience and allows players to play multiple positions. Players also learn skills and football values like responsibility and accountability that help them succeed on and off the field.

This flag football program is designed for everyone currently in Young 5's through 8th grade. The emphasis of this program is on participation and enjoyment. EVERYONE GETS TO PLAY! There are no "cuts" or "try-outs". Participants are assigned to teams based on their grade and public school attendance area. (Private and out-of-district school teams may be formed provided they meet the grade requirements, minimum number of players and registration deadline.) Rosters are typically limited to 12 players per team.

The season is scheduled to begin Sunday, November 10, 2024 and run for four weeks (Games/Practices could start as early as 10am and finish as late as 4pm). Teams will have four games/practices. Games/Practices are held on Sundays and will be scheduled between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm. Teams will practice for 30 minutes prior to a 40-minute game. Each block will be roughly one and a half hours.

     No Games Thanksgiving Weekend.

Players will receive an NFL Flag Football jersey and flags. Equipment will be provided for the coach, such as balls, cones etc... Players MUST have a mouthguard and wear pants with NO POCKETS.
