Welcome to your child’s year in first grade! My name is Cheryl Schroeder. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from The University of Michigan (1995) and a Master’s Degree in Reading from Eastern Michigan University (2003). I have worked within Ann Arbor Public Schools for the past twenty-two years. My first years in Ann Arbor were spent as a computer lab teacher and technical assistant, before starting my work in the classroom. I taught for fifteen years at King Elementary School and this is my fourth year teaching at Lawton Elementary! During my time at King and Lawton, I have taught both first and second grade. I am also the webmaster for Lawton School. I am excited to be teaching first grade again this year. This age is such an amazing time of learning and growth for my students and I love to be a part of it!
I am thrilled to be a member of the Lawton staff and community! Besides being a teacher at Lawton, I am also a mom to one current and one former Lawton student. My daughter Abby will be in fourth grade and my son Tyler will be in sixth grade at Slauson this year. Its exciting to see their journeys into the world of learning! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and making beaded jewelry.
Mrs. Schroeder’s Educational Philosophy:
I believe that all children have the ability to learn and do great things! My goal as an educator is to find the best ways to equip all of my students with the tools they will need to achieve success both in the classroom and beyond.
