• Homework:

Once we establish our instructional routine Mr. Klien will be home the EM (Everyday Math) Home Links four nights a week.  Please help your student remember to bring their Home Link back the next day.  I will generally require these to be completed Monday through Thursday unless noted in their homework folders. Quick recall of basic facts is necessary for mathematical success in the fourth grade curriculum and I strongly recommend daily practice at home until your child has developed competence and automaticity with these most important foundational skills. There will also be an occasional science worksheet to be completed and returned.

If you would like to send in treats/goodies for your child’s birthday please give me some advanced notice and Mrs. Hasty and I will adjust our schedules to accommodate the celebration.

Your child will go out for lunch recess at 12:08 and will eat at 12:28.  Because this is a long time to go without eating I am planning a short snack break sometime in the mid-morning.  This snack must be either fruits or vegetables - no chips, no candy, no nuts.  Some great suggestions are apples, bananas, baby carrots, applesauce, grapes etc.   The one exception to fruits/vegetables would be yogurt.  The tubes of yogurt are easy to transport and eat.  Please follow these guidelines when sending a snack in with your child.

Our specials schedule has been made but is subject to change the first week of school.  As of this first week of the school year it looks like we will have four of our specials in the mornings plus our World Language instruction.  Here is how our mornings look:

    Monday:  Gym, World Language

    Tuesday:  Gym

    Wednesday: World Language, Art

Thursday: Reading buddies with Mrs. Gargaro’s class

    Friday: Humanities (with Mr. Maier)

We are currently awaiting the state to set the M-STEP testing window which will be in April this year.  I will provide more details on specific testing dates and suggestions for helping your child be well prepared for this test as we near the testing window.

    Curriculum Night:

Put Monday, September 19 in your calendar for our curriculum night presentation.  Mrs. Hasty and I will be there to discuss our classroom, the fourth grade curriculum, and to answer any questions.  We will also have sign-up sheets for our parent/teacher conferences.
