Cory McElmeel

Cory McElmeel is passionate about implementing innovative secondary options that look beyond traditional educational process and outcomes.  Cory has committed to building and leading schools that are innovative, project-based, technology infused, integrated, and collaborative learning environments.  Cory has served his community as an educational professional for the past 12 years, 7 years as an Elementary Educator and 5 years as a High School Principal.  As an educator, Cory utilized his science background and strong technology skills to engage students in integrated learning experiences.  As a Principal, Cory was given the opportunity to open on of Michigan’s first New Tech High Schools, a project-based, STEAM focused, integrated, collaborative learning environment.  In his current role as lead Principal of Skyline High School Cory seeks to further develop the 21st Century learning opportunities available to his students and staff.  Cory is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University having earned both a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a Major in Science and a Master’s degree in K-12 Administration.  Cory was awarded the 2010 Scholar of Excellence award in K-12 Administration from Eastern Michigan University as their top graduate in this field in his graduating class.  Throughout Cory’s career he has continually sought opportunities for growth and strongly believes in the pursuit of lifelong learning.  Cory now leads his staff to ensure high fidelity implementation of instructional best practices and is committed to instilling these beliefs in his staff’s pedagogy and practice.
