Social Studies Department Chair

Ken Long is the Social Studies Department Chair, and also Huron’s Chess Coach. He has been a proud River Rat since 1991, when he was a student teacher at Huron. After a few years’ placements at Clague and Slauson Middle Schools, he returned as a full-time staff member in 1994. Mr. Long has a double Bachelors of Arts from the University of Michigan in Political Science, and Russian and East European Studies. He received his teaching certification and added endorsements in History, Social Science, and Physics from Eastern Michigan University. Mr. Long also earned a Masters of Education from Concordia University in Curriculum and Instruction.
