Mr. Kevin Behmer
Mr. Kevin Behmer is in his 31st year of teaching secondary mathematics, and his 29th at Huron HS. After student teaching as a River Rat in 1988, he spent 3 years in a small consolidated district north of Lansing before 'being called back home' to teach at Huron.
Over these many years, he has taught every class offering for freshman ranging from Accelerated Geometry to Algebra1 to Pre-Algebra. He has also taught Geometry X (non-proof based), Algebra 1X, Algebra2 (both traditional and "emergency block style" for seniors) and Senior Advanced Math (Intro to PreCalc). Mr. Behmer has also taught Computer Science with the languages of BASIC, HTML, Logo, Pascal, c++ and Java.
In October 2014, Mr. Behmer was inducted into the River Rat Hall of Fame for his efforts both as a classroom teacher as well as his co-curricular coaching activities of football, cross country, and track and field. Additionally, he was inducted into the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches and the Michigan HS Coaches Halls of Fame in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
In March 2019, Mr. Behmer was presented the Aspirations in Computing Educators Award by the Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation.
