Ms. Mary Clair Wissman
Mary Clair Wissman has taught at IB schools for several years and loves the IB program. She taught MYP and DP French at the International Academy’s West Campus in White Lake for 12 years. She taught students from freshmen to seniors. Before that, Ms. Wissman taught DP French at Detroit Country Day School for 9 years. Ms. Wissman studied French Literature at Washington University in St. Louis, and completed a junior year abroad program in Caen, France. She received her master's degree at the University of Michigan, and taught elementary French courses there as a graduate student.
Ms. Wissman is passionate about language and culture and the role literature plays in the exchange of ideas among different people. She loves helping students achieve their goals and seeing the amazing things her students accomplish. She has traveled to France many times with students and with her own family. She has wonderful friends in France and loves keeping track of current events there. She has lived in several different states in the United States, but Michigan is home.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, three children and their dog, Rémi. She loves exploring the beauty of the Great Lakes, cooking, reading, gardening, kayaking and hiking.
