    Want to play but don't have a team? Come to the "Free Agent" Day which will be scheduled at noon on a Sunday in April TBD at Veteran's Memorial Park, Field #5.     REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
    All registration will take place ONLINE ONLY* betwee the dates listed below. *If the Rec Office re-opens, managers may drop off their forms and fees in person between 8 am and 4:30 pm at the Rec office at 1515 S. 7th, Ann Arbor, 48103.

    All registrations will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Late registrants cannot be guaranteed league placement.

    ONLINE REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE! (sponsor/initial registration) 

    • You can sign up your team online.  Receive immediate confirmation of your league placement with the same priority as walk-in registrants. Forms can be found online. If the office re-opens, manager’s packet is mailed out within 3 days.
    • NOTE:  Online registration is for initial / sponsor registration only, which reserves your team’s spot in the league.  Managers still need to submit via email or come to the office by the contract deadline date to bring in their roster with player waivers, team and non-resident fees.

    BOTH NATIONAL AND AMERICAN LEAGUES PLAY 16 GAMES.

    The Sponsor Fee is the initial fee due from all teams at registration to reserve their spot in the league. All teams pay both the sponsor fee AND the team fees, regardless of whether or not a team has a sponsor.

    *Non-resident fee: Applies to all players who reside outside the boundaries of the Ann Arbor Public School District. The non-resident fee is used to recover a portion of the program costs from participants who do not reside within the AAPS District.

    Team rosters, player waivers, team and non-resident fees are due by May 6, 2021. Anything submitted after this date will be assessed a late fee of $2.00 per player.

    Rec & Ed accepts credit and debit cards. When the office re-opens for in person business, cash, money orders, certified and corporate checks are also accepted. A personal check will only be accepted from the team’s manager whose name appears on the registration. Checks should be made out to Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS).

    RETURNED CHECK POLICY
    If any check is returned NSF, the team in question will forfeit all of its games from the point of notification from Rec & Ed, until a cash payment is made for the amount of the check plus an additional $50 league re-entry fee.

    SCHEDULE

    SEASON LENGTH & NIGHTS OF PLAY

    The season is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of MAY 10, 2021 and runs approximately 10-12 weeks, with a 16 game schedule. NEW: If you cannot field a team prior to Memorial Day, you must notify the Adult Sports Supervisor by April 19, 2021.

    Teams usually play twice a week, and games can be scheduled on any day of the week. Game times on week days are 6:30 pm or 9 pm. Weekend games are anytime from 11:30 am to 6:30 pm.

    LEAGUE INFORMATION, RULES AND GUIDELINES

    LEAGUE CLASSIFICATION APPEAL- Click HERE to see Summer 2021 Classifications.

    Teams that played the previous season and compiled a winning percentage of .800 and better will be moved to a higher division.  Teams with a win percentage of .200 and below are moved to a lower division.  Team managers wishing to appeal their league classification  may do so by emailing the Adult Team Sport Supervisor by 5:00pm the FRIDAY before registration opens.

    LEAGUE RULES
    The Rec & Ed Adult Baseball Program will be governed by the Official Baseball Rules. However, Rec & Ed league rules will supersede the governing rules.

    PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
    Players must be of an amateur status, and must have been so for the previous three years. There are no restrictions on a player’s participation on any team outside the Rec & Ed program or in other Rec & Ed sports.

    UNIFORMS
    Matching uniform shirts with visible and distinct numbers are highly recommended.

    ROSTER LIMIT:
    A maximum of 21 players will be allowed per roster. 

    GAME BALL:
    The official game ball will be the RAWLINGS R100. Teams must provide two new game balls to the plate umpire before every game.

    OFFICIAL RESULT SHEETS
    Result sheets should be emailed to Nick Doyle, league statistician, at doylen@aaps.k12.mi.us.The home team keeps the official score (the team listed first on the league schedule is designated as the home team). The winning team is required to submit the game result sheet to Rec & Ed by email immediately after the game. However, in the event your game ends in a tie, the HOME TEAM is responsible for submitting the result sheet. If the results are not submitted, the game in question will be recorded as a double forfeit. Again, results should be emailed to Nick Doyle, league statistician, at doylen@aaps.k12.mi.us.

    FORFEIT POLICY
    A. Any team that forfeits two games in a season (except forfeits due to use of ineligible players, ejection or injury) will forfeit all of its remaining games on their league schedule unless a $50.00 re-entry fee is paid.

    B. A team must pay the league re-entry fee at Rec & Ed within seven days of its second forfeit. A reminder will be sent only as a courtesy measure to notify a team of its second forfeit.

    C. If a team is not sure of its number of forfeits, it is the team manager’s responsibility to contact the league statistician at doylen@a2schools.org or 734-994-2300 ext. 53218. The Team Sports Manager may waive the league re-entry fee at his or her discretion.

    AWARDS
    An award will be presented to the division and league champion.  In divisions or leagues with 9 or more teams, awards will also be presented to the runner-up team.
