    Want to play but don't have a team? Come to the "Free Agent" Day on Sunday, April 28 at noon at Vets #5. If you can't make it to the field that day, send a Free Agent form to Karen at draves@a2schools.org.  Download a Free Agent Form here!


    REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
    All registration will take place 8:00 am - 4:30 pm at the Rec & Ed office, 1515 S. Seventh St., on the dates listed below.

    PLEASE REGISTER EARLY! DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!
    All registrations will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Late registrants cannot be guaranteed league placement.

    ONLINE REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE! (sponsor/initial registration) 

    • You can sign up your team online.  Receive immediate confirmation of your league placement with the same priority as walk-in registrants. Manager’s packet is mailed out within 3 days.
    • NOTE:  Online registration is for initial / sponsor registration only, which reserves your team’s spot in the league.  Managers will still need to come to the office by the contract deadline date to bring in their roster, player contracts, team and non-resident fees.

    2 Ways to send in your team’s registration form and sponsor fee before the registration period begins!

    1. Mail the team's sponsor fee and completed registration form to: 
      Rec & Ed Adult Summer Baseball
      1515 S. Seventh St.
      Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
    2. Drop off your completed registration form and fee in our drop box located at 1515 S. Seventh St. inside the front door. The drop box is accessible 24 hours a day. Please mark your envelope with Summer Baseball.

    Registrations received by mail or drop box before the first day of open registration will be processed at 4:00 PM on the first day of registration.  Any mailed or drop box registrations received during registration will be processed at 4:00 PM the day they are received.

    Managers' packets will be mailed out within three days of the registration being processed.

    Rosters, contracts and player fees must be submitted in person at the Rec&Ed Main Office. Contracts will NOT be accepted via mail or drop-box.  CLICK HERE to download a player contract form.

    BOTH NATIONAL AND AMERICAN LEAGUES PLAY 16 GAMES.

    The Sponsor Fee is the initial fee paid by all teams at registration to reserve their spot in the league. All teams pay both the sponsor fee AND the team fees, regardless of whether or not a team has a sponsor.

    Sponsor fees are due at time of team registration. All fees (sponsor and team fees) must be paid at Rec&Ed, 1515 S. Seventh St., Ann Arbor, MI 48103, between 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

    *Non-resident fee: Applies to all players who reside outside the boundaries of the Ann Arbor Public School District. The non-resident fee is used to recover a portion of the program costs from participants who do not reside within the AAPS District.

    Player contracts, rosters and team fees are due May 9, 2019. Any contracts or team fees submitted after this date will be assessed a late fee of $2.00 per contract.

    Rec & Ed will accept cash, money orders, credit cards, certified and corporate checks. A personal check will only be accepted from the team’s manager whose name appears on the registration form. Checks should be made out to Ann Arbor Public Schools.

    RETURNED CHECK POLICY
    If any check is returned NSF, the team in question will forfeit all of its games from the point of notification from Rec & Ed, until a cash payment is made for the amount of the check plus an additional $50 league re-entry fee.

    SCHEDULE

    SEASON LENGTH & NIGHTS OF PLAY

    The season is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of May 13, 2019 and runs approximately 10-12 weeks, with a 16 game schedule.

    Game days are scheduled for any day of the week and weekends. Game times during the week will be 6:30 pm  and 9 pm. Games scheduled on Sunday and Saturday can be scheduled anytime from 10:30 am to 9:00 pm.

    LEAGUE INFORMATION, RULES AND GUIDELINES

    LEAGUE CLASSIFICATION APPEAL- Click HERE to see Summer 2019 Classifications.

    Teams competing last season that have compiled a winning percentage of .800 and better will be moved to a higher division.  Teams with a losing percentage of .200 and below are moved to a lower division.  Team managers wishing to appeal their league classification  may do so by completing the league classification appeal form.  The deadline for teams to submit their league classification appeal to the Adult Team Sport Supervisor is 5:00pm on FRIDAY, APRIL 6, 2018.

    LEAGUE RULES
    The Rec & Ed Adult Baseball Program will be governed by the 2018 Official Baseball Rules. However, Rec & Ed league rules will supersede the governing rules.

    PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
    A player may compete on no more than one team. Players must be of an amateur status, and must be so for a minimum of the previous three years. There are no restrictions on a player’s participation on any team or teams outside the Rec&Ed program or within other Rec&Ed programs.

    UNIFORMS
    Matching uniform shirts with visible and distinct numbers are highly recommended.

    ROSTER LIMIT:
    A maximum of 21 players will be allowed per roster. 

    GAME BALL:
    The official game ball will be the RAWLINGS R100. Teams must provide two new game balls to the plate umpire before every game.

    OFFICIAL RESULT SHEETS
    The home team must keep the official score. The team listed first on the league schedule is designated as the home team. The winning team is required to drop off the game result sheet to Rec & Ed, at the Southeast Park drop box or the Veterans Memorial Park drop box immediately after the game. However, in the event your game ends in a tie, the HOME TEAM is responsible for dropping off the result sheet. If the results are not turned in, the game in question will be recorded as a double forfeit. Result sheets can also be emailed to Glenn Jones, league statistician, at jonesg@aaps.k12.mi.us .

    FORFEIT POLICY
    A. Any team that forfeits two games in a season (except forfeits due to use of ineligible players, ejection or injury) will forfeit all of its remaining games on their league schedule unless a $50.00 re-entry fee is paid.

    B. A team must pay the league re-entry fee at Rec & Ed within seven days of its second forfeit. A reminder will be sent only as a courtesy measure to notify a team of its second forfeit.

    C. If a team is not sure of its number of forfeits, it is the team manager’s responsibility to contact the league statistician at 994-2300 ext. 53218. The Coordinator of Team Sports may waive the league re-entry fee at his or her discretion.

    AWARDS
    Sponsor and individual awards will be presented to the division and league champion.  In divisions or leagues with 9 or more teams,  sponsor and individual awards will also be presented to the runner-up team.
