    Registration Procedures 
    Fall 2017 Registration Dates for all leagues

    PLEASE REGISTER EARLY! All registrations will be received on a first-come, first-serve basis. Late registrants are not guaranteed league placement.
    Prior to the registration period, the sponsor fee and completed registration form can be: 
    • Submit online, CLICK HERE starting 9:00AM on Tuesday, July 9, 2019
      • Select the league you would like to sign up for. Within 3 days of completing the online league registration, a Manager's Packet will be mailed to you. 
    • Mail to Adult Fall Softball 1515 S. 7th St. Ann Arbor, MI 48103
    • Place Registration form with payment in our 24-hour drop box in the foyer at the Rec & Ed office, 1515 S. 7th. (no cash in the drop box).
    • CLICK HERE if you don't have a team to play on and are free on Thursday nights (Corec) or Wednesday nights (Men's).
    Rosters, contracts and player fees must be submitted in person at the Rec & Ed office.

    Sponsor fees are initial fees paid by all teams at registration to reserve their spot in the league. All teams pay the sponsor fee and the team fee, regardless of whether the team has a sponsor.
     
    The non-resident fee applies to all players who reside outside of the boundaries of the AAPS district. It is used to recover a portion of the program costs from participants who do not reside within the AAPS district.
     
    Sponsor fees are due at the time of team registration and may be paid online. All team fees must be paid at Rec & Ed, 1515 S. 7th St. between 8 AM - 4:30PM.
     
    All player contracts, team rosters and team fees are due by Thursday, August 15, 2019. Any contract submitted after this date are assessed a late fee of $2.00 per player.
     
    Rec & Ed will accept credit cards, cash, money orders, certified checks, corporate checks, a single personal check from the team sponsor, team manager or a designated, registered team member for sponsor fees, team fees or tournament fees. No personal checks will be accepted for partial payments or late fees. Checks should be made out to Ann Arbor Public Schools.

    The tentative start date for the Fall League is the week of August 19, 2019. All teams play 10 games (mostly doubleheaders) and the season lasts approximately 5-7 weeks. 
    ALL FALL SOFTBALL LEAGUES USE THE “1 & 1” PITCH COUNT FORMAT WITH A 70 MINUTE TIME LIMIT.

    Men's Central All American, and .500 & over Federal Teams Wednesdays
    Men's Minor
    Under .500 Men's Federal teams plus all Men's Municipal, City and Community Teams
    Wednesdays
    Men's Recreation All Men's Recreation and County teams  Wednesdays
    Co-Rec Central All Co-rec Federal, Municipal and "over .500" Community or City teams Mondays
    Co-Rec Minor "under .500"  Co-rec Community and City teams, and all Recreation teams Thursdays
     *Co-Rec 7 & 3  All teams that wish to play with 7 guys and 3 gals. Mondays
     
    Most weeks are doubleheaders (teams usually play two games per night, usually against the same opponent, but not always).  Some weeks, teams may only have one game.  Tentative game times start as early as 6:00PM and as late as 9:45 PM. All games have a 1 hour 10 minute time limit.
     
    *Co-Rec "7 & 3" is a Co-rec league where teams play with 7 men and 3 women. On offense, the women may not bat back to back. On defense, the 3 women must play as follows:  one in the outfield, one in the infield, and one plays pitcher or catcher.
     
    Practice Times and Permits 
    Rec & Ed does not offer practice permits for fall softball teams. However, any manager wishing to schedule practices for a team may contact Katie McCoy at mccoyk@a2schools.org. Rates for practices are $9.00/hour. 
     
    Equipment Pick-up Dates
    Each team will be given game balls, result sheets, score book, and a set of league rules. Every team must send a representative to Equipment Pick-up on any of the dates and times listed below. We ask your cooperation in obtaining your team's equipment on a timely basis. Pick-up will be held at the Rec & Ed office.

    League Info, Rules & Guidelines 
    The Rec & Ed Adult Softball program is governed by the current USA Softball (ASA)  Rules. However, Rec & Ed has developed local league rules, which supersede ASA rules. Every team will receive a set of Rec & Ed league rules at equipment pick-up. Managers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with both sets of rules. 
     
     
    Roster Information
    A player can play on two different teams in two different programs. For example, a player can play on a Men's team and a Co-Rec team. Women may play in the men's league.

    Score Sheets, Result Sheets and Standings
    The home team must keep the official score. The team listed first on the league schedule is designated as the home team.  The winning team is required to drop off the game result sheet at the Rec & Ed office, Southeast Park drop box or the Veterans Memorial Park drop box immediately after the game. However, in the event your game ends in a tie, the HOME TEAM is responsible for dropping off the result sheet. At the end of one week, if the results are not turned in, the game in question will be recorded as a double forfeit.  You may also take a picture of your result sheet and email it to Glenn at jonesg@a2schools.org.
     
    Awards
    A sponsor and individual awards will be presented to the division and league champion.  In divisions or leagues with more than 8 teams, individual awards will also be presented to the runner-up.
