    All registration will take place online or at the Rec & Ed office, 1515 S. Seventh St. (8 am til 4:30 pm), on the dates listed below.

     *Teams may be added March 27 only if there is an opening in their league.  Please be advised that the Rec & Ed office will be closed for Spring Break March 30-April 3, 2020.

    • NOTE:  Online registration is for sponsor/initial registration only, which reserves your team’s spot in the league. Captains still need to come into the office by the contract deadline to bring in their roster, player contracts, team fee, and non-resident fees.

    2 Ways to send in your team’s registration form and sponsor fee before the online registration period begins!

    1. Mail the team's sponsor fee and completed registration form to: 
      Rec & Ed Adult Softball League
      1515 S. Seventh St.
      Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
    2. Drop off your completed registration form and fee in our drop box located at 1515 S. Seventh St. in the foyer (left of door). The drop box is accessible 8 am til 11 pm, 7 days a week. Please mark your envelope with Adult Summer Softball League.

    Registrations received by mail, drop box or email before registration opens will be processed on the first day of registration. Managers' packets will be mailed out within three days of the registration being processed.

    Rosters, contracts and player fees must be submitted to the Rec&Ed Office. Contracts will NOT be accepted at the fields. CLICK HEREto download a softball player contract.

    *7 & 3 is a Co-rec league where teams play with 7 men and 3 women. On offense, the women may not bat back to back. On defense, the 3 women must play the following positions:  one in outfield, one in infield, and one plays pitcher or catcher. 7 & 3 plays on Wednesdays (singleheaders) and is an "open" league (meaning, any level team may sign up).

    The Non-Resident Fee applies to all players who reside outside the boundaries of the Ann Arbor Public School District. The Non-Resident Fee is used to recover a portion of the program costs from participants who do not reside within the Ann Arbor Public Schools.

    The Sponsor Fee is the initial fee paid by all teams at registration to reserve their spot in the league. All teams pay both the sponsor fee AND the team fees, regardless of whether or not a team has a sponsor.

    Sponsor fees are due at time of team registration. All fees (sponsor and team fees) must be paid at Rec & Ed, 1515 S. Seventh St., Ann Arbor, MI 48103, between the hours of 8:00AM – 4:30PM.

    Player contracts, rosters and team fees are due by 4:30 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2020. Any contracts or team fees submitted after this date will be assessed a late fee of $2.00 per contract. DOWNLOAD A PLAYER CONTRACT HERE!

    Rec & Ed accepts debit or credit cards, cash, money orders, certified and corporate checks. A personal check will only be accepted from the team’s manager whose name appears on the registration form. Checks should be made out to Ann Arbor Public Schools.

    RETURNED CHECK POLICY
    If any check is returned NSF, the team in question will forfeit all of its games from the point of notification from Rec&Ed, until a cash payment is made for the amount of the check plus an additional $50 league re-entry fee.

    The season is scheduled to begin the week of May 4, 2020.

     
    Game times: There is a 70 minute time limit on all games. At most fields, game times are 6:15, 7:30, 8:45 and 10 pm. At Vets #4, game times are 6:00, 7:10, 8:20, and 9:30 pm due to a light curfew.

    EQUIPMENT PICK-UP DATES

    Every team that registers in the Community Education & Recreation Adult Softball Program receives game balls, result sheets, a score book, a softball rule book and a set of league rules.  Every team must send a representative on any of the dates and times listed below to pick up this equipment.  We ask your cooperation in obtaining your team's equipment on a timely basis.  Equipment will be distributed only at the dates and times listed below.

    LEAGUE INFORMATION, RULES AND GUIDELINES

    LEAGUE CLASSIFICATION
    Teams that participated the previous year can view their current league classification HERE. League classification can be appealed by submitting an appeal form in writing to the Adult Sports Supervisor by FRIDAY prior to team registration.

    LEAGUE RULES
    The Community Education & Recreation Adult Softball program is governed by current USA Softball rules (formerly known as ASA).  However, Rec & Ed has developed local league rules which may supersede some USA Softball rules.  Every team will receive a current year ASA Softball Rule book and a set of Rec & Ed League Rules when they pick up their equipment. League Rules are also posted online on the "Forms" page HERE.

    PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
    For league play, individuals may not participate on more than one team in any one program. For example, player A cannot play on two Men's Slow Pitch teams or two Co-Rec Slow Pitch teams. However, player A can play on two different teams in two different programs. For example, player A can play on a Women's Slow Pitch team and a Co-Rec Slow Pitch team or Player B can play on a Men's Slow Pitch team and a Men's over 50 Slow Pitch team. Below are the different softball programs offered by Rec&Ed:

    UNIFORMS
    We recommend that teams wear matching uniform shirts with visible and distinct numbers, but this is not required.

    OFFICIAL RESULT SHEETS
    The home team must keep the official score. The team listed first on the league schedule is designated as the home team. The winning team is required to drop off the game result sheet to Rec&Ed, at the Southeast Park drop box or the Veterans Memorial Park drop box immediately after the game. However, in the event your game ends in a tie, the HOME TEAM is responsible for dropping off the result sheet. If the results are not turned in, the game in question will be recorded as a double forfeit. Result sheets can also be emailed to Nick at doylen@a2schools.org.

    FORFEIT POLICY
    A. Any team that forfeits two games in a season (except forfeits due to use of ineligible players, ejection or injury) will forfeit all of its remaining games on their league schedule unless a $50.00 re-entry fee is paid.

    B. A team must pay the league re-entry fee at Rec&Ed within seven days of its second forfeit. A reminder will be sent only as a courtesy measure to notify a team of its second forfeit.

    C. If a team is not sure of its number of forfeits, it is the team manager’s responsibility to contact the league statistician at 994-2300 ext. 53218. The Coordinator of Team Sports may waive the league re-entry fee at his or her discretion.

    AWARDS
    Sponsor and individual awards will be presented to the division or league champion.  In divisions or leagues with 9 or more teams, individual awards will also be presented to the runner-up team.

    PRACTICE PERMIT POLICY

    Practice diamonds for adult softball teams should be rented during the team registration process. The Spring/Summer diamond permit fee is $30. At registration each team will receive a Diamond Permit Information Packet. The packet includes the list of available sites and times for practice and a request form. Teams wishing to reserve a practice diamond during the season must return the completed request form with a $30 permit fee to the Rec&Ed office. Please remember that assigned practice dates cannot be rescheduled if they are cancelled due to inclement weather.


    Diamonds permits will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.
