Officiating for Rec & Ed

  • NEEDED: New Youth Volleyball Officials! Rec & Ed is having an Official’s Volleyball Clinic on Sunday, October 22, 2023, 2:30PM-5:15PM, Tappan Middle School Gym, 2251 E. Stadium Blvd. This is a paying job! Please come dressed to work games: $20/match for officials 18 and under, $23/match for adults (higher priority will be given to youth).     Rec & Ed is always looking for enthusiastic individuals with good people skills to work  as game officials!

    Minimum Age to Work Games:

    14 years old for: Youth Soccer, and Youth Baseball/Softball, Coach Pitch/T-ball

    16 years old for:  Youth Basketball, Youth Volleyball

    18 years old for:  All Adult leagues

    Inexperienced officials may apply, but should plan to commit unpaid time for training.

    Training:
    Includes clinics, a test, a practicum and other possible requirements held approximately 2 to 4 weeks before the season begins.


    Rec & Ed hires new officials for these leagues on the following timeline:

    Youth Sports: 
    Winter Youth Basketball - training begins in early November, season begins in January 

    Spring Youth Soccer - training begins in early March, season begins in April
    Summer Youth Baseball/Softball - training begins in May, season begins in June 

    Adult Sports
    Basketball - season begins in early December, experience required

    Slow Pitch Softball - season begins in late April, experience or clinic attendance required
    Men’s Baseball - season begins in May, experience required
    Volleyball - season runs Sept thru May, experience required
