Mr. Michael Hagen MPA
Bryant is a unique school with a truly special community. Simply put, I like teaching at Bryant because it feels like home.
My name is Michael Hagen and I have been teaching at Bryant for the past eight years. After spending five years in kindergarten I made the big jump to first grade in the 2014-2015 school year. I spent the 2016-2017 school year in second grade and now I am back doing what I love: first grade.
I was born and raised in Ann Arbor and am a proud product of the Ann Arbor Public Schools. I am thrilled to be your child's teacher and please never hesitate to contact me.

Years of Teaching
I have been happily married to my wife Melissa for the past seven years. My mother has worked in higher education for the past 30 years. I am the middle child in my family, which I guess explains a lot. My older brother (the one responsible for me getting into education) lives in Livonia with his lovely wife. After graduating from the University of Michigan my younger sister took a position as a nurse practitioner here in Michigan. I could not be more proud or thankful for my wonderful family. This past March saw Melissa and I welcome our first child Mirabel into the world.
Favorite Childhood Memory
One of my most enduring school related memories was my first day at Abbot Elementary. I was an anxious, apprehensive boy when I started at Abbot mid-year. However, I was able to bond with a new classmate over a fabulous Lego set he had chosen to bring in for show-and-tell. We remain close friends to this day.
